Like Rotary clubs around the world, our Rotary E-Club of Global Travelers participates in grants. We initiate grants, and we collaborate with other clubs on grants. We also make donations outside the grants process to organizations in places where we travel or to partners on our service projects. (See our grant and donation history here.)
The money that allow us to do this come from our Grants and Service Fund.
In contrast to most Rotary clubs, we do not have fundraisers to support our Fund (except for some fundraising trips). Our Grants and Service Fund is supported by donations from individual members throughout the year.
Two Ways to Donate
You can donate to our Grants and Service Fund online or by downloading a form and mailing a check. Whichever way you donate, your contribution will be used for grants or for donations to our service partners.
It’s simpler for us and for most of you if you donate online. However, as of now, your online donations are not tax-deductible (see the background information below). If a tax deduction is important to you, use the donation form and mail in a check.
Some Background
The Rotary E-Club of Global Travelers was founded in April 2021. All Rotary clubs, even international clubs like ours, are chartered as part of a Rotary District. Because many of our founding members are from Minnesota or Wisconsin, we are chartered in District 5950.
District 5950 has a Foundation that is registered in the United States as a non-profit organization (501(c)(3)). Our members and friends can make donations to the District 5950 Foundation and designate our Rotary E-Club of Global Travelers or even a specific project within our club as the beneficiary of the donation. Essentially, we have our own foundation within the District 5950 Foundation. The District Foundation holds our funds; we control their use.
The Rotary Foundation
We also encourage our members to donate to The Rotary Foundation (TRF). An international philanthropic organization, TRF focuses on major global projects including
- Promoting peace
- Saving mothers and children
- Supporting education
- Providing clean water and sanitation
- Growing local economies
- Fighting disease (including polio)
- Protecting the environment.
The Rotary Foundation (TRF) provides funds to District 5950 that are then used to match funds for projects. These matching funds dramatically increase the impact of our grants. For more information, read How Your Contributions Impact Grants Everywhere.
