Several times a year, our geographically dispersed Global Travelers engage in “serving together, separately.” In other words, we share a focus on a particular type of service that we perform in our home community. Our shared challenge for this February and March is to Volunteer Someplace New. Find an organization in your community that’s new to you… or an organization that you’re familiar with but just haven’t found the time to get involved with. Use this Global Travelers virtual challenge as an opportunity to make some new connections and learn something new while helping others.

Here are some ideas of organizations where you might serve:

Volunteer someplace new
Food and shelter

Arts, culture, community

Every community has many opportunities for service. If you need help finding the right opportunity, try contacting your local community center or library. Check your city or county website. Join idealist.org. Consult with nonprofits that you already support. Or just ask your neighbors.

Have Fun and Share Your Experience

We love to share our members’ volunteer activities on Facebook and Instagram. Take a picture while you’re volunteering and send it to us with a brief description of what you did @ rotaryglobaltravelers@gmail.com

Note: if you’re traveling this month or unable to volunteer for some reason, you can participate by making a donation to an organization that’s new to you. Our objective with this virtual challenge is to get involved with something new in whatever way works for you.
