In-Person Service Projects

When Global Travelers gather together, whether for travel or for social time, we try to combine it with a service project. Here are some of the projects we’ve done together.

Heart to Heart International, Kansas City, April 2025

KC group at heart-to-heart

In April, several dozen Global Travelers gathered Kansas City for fun and service. We spent a morning at the Heart to Heart International facility assembling kits that are distributed as part of disaster assistance. We packed more than 1200 kits with toothbrush, tooth paste, soap, towel, etc. Our club also made a $500 donation to support their work. Read more about our adventures in Kansas City.

Amazon Reforesting, Brazil, March 2025

amazon tree planting

In March 2025, two groups of Global Travelers (almost 40 of us) visited the Brazilian Amazon. As part of this adventure, we each had the opportunity to plant a tree to help with a reforestation project. We also donated $500 to schools in the indigenous villages that we visited. English Express, Ethiopia, January 2025

In January 2025, twelve Global Travelers visited Ethiopia. Through one of our members connections, we met with university students who were delighted to spend an evening practicing their English with native speakers. We’re working on a project to continue this “English language tutoring” remotely. We also made donations to projects of Rotary clubs that we visited and to a gymnastics school for homeless youth. Camp Florida Cleanup — January 2025

Camp Florida cleanup

In early January, many Global Travelers gathered together for social time. 10 of us combined that with a service project: cleaning up post-hurricane brush and debris at Rotary’s Camp Florida, a facility for children and adults with disabilities. We also made a $500 donation to the Camp. Read more.

Habitat for Humanity Build, Alexandria, MN — September 2024

A “fall social” in northern Minnesota has become a tradition for our club. Last September, we coupled the social with a service project. Several dozen of us spent two days working on a Habitat for Humanity project in Alexandria, MN. We’re excited to do it again this September. Read more.
