Here at Global Travelers, we don’t emphasize perfect attendance. We strive to make our meetings interesting, informative, and fun, but we recognize our members have busy lives and can’t always attend. However, we don’t want you to miss a meeting simply because you forgot or can’t find the zoom link. This article provides tips to help you avoid that kind of “meeting miss.”
Adding Meetings to your Calendar
Early in our club’s history, we sent meeting notices as calendar entries, and we had issues. People accidentally changed or deleted entries, and that affected everyone. So we abandoned that approach. But if it helps you to have the meetings on your personal calendar, you can use DACdb to add them.
From the DACdb home page, select the Calendar icon. In the calendar, navigate to the next meeting date and double-click it.

At the top of the page for the calendar entry, you’ll see icons for the various calendar types. Select the one for your calendar. We’ll use the example of a google calendar.
The system will generate a new calendar entry. You have the option of changing the description, choosing whether or not to get reminders, etc. Make sure the time zone says “Central time.” Our meeting calendar in DACdb is central time. If your calendar uses a different time zone, your system will adjust the calendar entry appropriately when you save it to your calendar.
Finding the Meeting Zoom Link
You’re at your computer or tablet, ready to attend the meeting, but where’s the Zoom link? We always send an email with the link a day or two before the meeting. So, you can search your email for a note from Rotary Global Travelers. Or..
If you used the method above to add the meeting to you calendar, the Zoom link will be on your calendar. If not, you can go to the DACdb calendar to find it. Or…
You can go to the Meeting Info page on our web site. You’ll find the Zoom link right at the top of the page.
Finding a Meeting in Another Location
Our club doesn’t require attendance or expect you to do “make-ups” when you’re traveling. However, sometimes attending a meeting in another city (or another country) is a great way to meet people, expand your Rotary knowledge, and have fun.

Finding a meeting is easy. You can use the link at the bottom of our website to get to the Rotary International site. Then select “Club Finder” in the upper right.
You’ll get a search box with lots of options. You only need to fill in one or two to search. If your traveling abroad, you might want to search for English language meetings. You’ll be surprised how many you find.
Rotary clubs around the world (including ours) love visitors, but it never hurts to reach out to a club to verify that the meeting information is correct. Then go and enjoy making some new Rotary friends.
