Many of our members and their family and friends have participated in the numerous trips that associate member Merna has led to Cuba. Rotary is not officially active in Cuba, but Merna and her fellow travelers have found many ways to demonstrate service above self during their visits.

One of the exciting projects that is nearing completion is solar panels to protect one of the businesses that hosts of us from the challenges of unreliable electrical power. Our March group who traveled to Cuba got to see the new Solar panels and battery installation at the Finca Agroecologica el Paraiso in Viñales.

Rotarians from our club and others have almost completely paid for this project. A larger poster will hang in the restaurant once all the donations come in. Having the Rotary wheel and recognition on this project spreads good will. They also had the opportunity to share a meal with Jesus, who is leading this project. Watch his greeting here.

We still need $1125 for this project. Our Global Travelers leadership team has agreed to match up to $500 in donations for this project. That means we need only $625. Please consider donating, especially if you are among the many travelers who have visited Cuba with Merna.
