Who We Are

Rotary E-Club Global Travelers is a community of Rotarians united by a shared passion for international service, travel, and friendship.

We're a virtual club, but there's nothing virtual about the friendships we build, the projects we lead, or the adventures we share.

Our members span the United States and around the globe. Some are long-time Rotarians. Others are brand new to Rotary. What brings us together is a desire to make a difference while exploring the world alongside people who feel the same way.

We're part of Rotary International, a network of over 1.2 million members from more than 200 countries who are concerned about tackling the most pressing problems at home and abroad.

We're Global by Design

Global Travelers began as a group of Minnesota Rotarians who spent nearly a decade traveling together on international service trips.

Rotary leaders recognized what they had created and encouraged them to build a new kind of club, one centered on international service and the friendships formed through shared travel experiences.

The club was officially chartered in April 2021 with 25 founding members. Today, more than half of our members live outside Minnesota, bringing different perspectives, experiences, and ideas to our meetings and service projects.

We Have Full and Associate Members

Many Rotarians are deeply committed to their home club but would like to participate in more international service. We believe they shouldn’t have to choose in order to travel and serve with us, and that's why we created the concept of Associate Membership.

Associate Members remain active in their local Rotary clubs while fully participating in most Global Travelers activities, including attending meetings, traveling with the group, joining service projects, and serving in certain leadership positions.

Today, Associate Members make up more than half of our membership, a sign that we’re filling a niche for Rotarians around the world.

We Mostly Zoom, But Not Entirely

As a virtual club, we meet on Zoom, usually three times a month at different times to accommodate members around the world. Our meetings let us catch up, hear interesting speakers, and share what we're doing around the globe.

But our friendships don't stop when we log off.

Members connect through online interest groups focused on topics like photography, gardening, books, and more. We also get together in person for regional socials, Rotary conferences, and club trips. Some of our best friendships started on Zoom and grew through shared adventures.

We Love to Travel

Travel isn't an add-on for Global Travelers. It's part of who we are. Our trips bring together friendship, cultural experiences, and opportunities to serve.

We might visit a Rotary grant project, work alongside a partner club, or simply explore somewhere new together, looking for opportunities for service.

Our adventures have taken us to India, Nepal, Bhutan, the Philippines, Brazil, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Australia, and many other destinations.

For many members, the best part is traveling with people who share their curiosity and sense of purpose. It's also an opportunity for those who might otherwise travel alone to explore the world with friends.

Our next adventures are always taking shape, inspired by our members' interests and ideas.

We Make an Impact

Service is at the heart of Global Travelers. Our members bring their experience, connections, and passion for helping others to projects around the world.

Through member contributions, partnerships with other Rotary clubs, and support from The Rotary Foundation, we're able to participate in projects that extend well beyond what our club could accomplish alone.
